Joelle Groshek represents food manufacturers, distributors and retailers in litigation arising from recalls and foodborne illness outbreaks, consumer fraud class actions and supply-chain disputes, as a member of the food litigation and regulatory practice group and the national food and agriculture industry team. Joelle draws on her experience in criminal law and regulatory agency investigations and enforcement actions to advise clients on regulatory compliance, litigation avoidance strategies and potential criminal liability. She provides an educated perspective to foodborne illness litigation and FDA and USDA enforcement issues. In addition, Joelle’s practice encompasses practical, day-to-day advice to food companies on regulatory compliance issues ranging from food labeling and marketing review and substantiation, to menu labeling, to federal, state and local licensing requirements.

Prior to joining Faegre Drinker, Joelle worked at a Minneapolis criminal defense firm, where her practice included representing individuals and businesses in criminal and civil investigations for tax and health care billing fraud. Joelle also defended clients at administrative agency hearings before the Minnesota Board of Accountancy, the Minnesota Department of Human Services, the Minnesota Department of Health and the Minnesota Board of Social Work.

Before her career in law, Joelle worked and volunteered in a variety of positions related to food and public health, including animal husbandry, organic vegetable and flower production, and facilitation of a food stamp (SNAP) exchange at two Wisconsin farmers' markets.
