Overview
Aidan Dobney advises clients on banking and finance matters including real estate and leveraged finance, as well as cross-border transactions acting for both sponsors and lenders.
Aidan has worked on transactions spanning a range of clients — from clearing banks and institutional lenders to big-ticket sponsors and FTSE 100 borrowers — on a number of assets classes including residential, office blocks, data centres, logistics sites, student housing, and hotels.
The firm's finance and restructuring practice has been recognized in Chambers Global 2026, Chambers UK 2026, Legal 500 UK 2026, and the Global Restructuring Review's GRR 30 list for 2026.
Representative Finance Experience
- Advised borrower side on a £300 million refinancing of various care-home acquisitions, including leading on the commercial paper (CP) process, negotiating security and finance documents and CPs, and managing local counsel and support teams to ensure that the corporate acquisitions, property CPs, and accession processes aligned.
- Advised a clearing bank on a £15 million refinancing of various residential units. Updated and negotiated the facility agreement, including the addition of an International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) master agreement and related hedging and the Sterling Overnight Index Average (SONIA) provisions.
- Advised borrower side on the refinancing of a £270 million revolving credit facility (RCF) and a £100 million accordion facility upsize to a syndicate of lenders across five jurisdictions.
- Advised a clearing bank on a £25 million refinancing of 16 industrial properties, including negotiating the all-asset debenture, subordination deed, and duty-of-care agreements as well as managing the CP process and transaction.
- Advised the lender side on an amendment, restatement, and upsize of an existing term loan for an additional loan of £25 million, with new total commitments summing £140 million, for the purpose of acquiring new property, permitting the migration of the financing group to Jersey, and a following restructuring.
- Advised an investment firm on an accordion acquisition facility used for various real estate investments, including the £198 million acquisition of a London data centre and the €520 million acquisition of a pan-European logistics portfolio.
- Advised the sponsor client on a £400 million aggregate senior/mezzanine financing of 40+ assets across seven jurisdictions.
- Advised on a £100 million refinancing of a UK property, including negotiating various finance documents, leading weekly CP calls, liaising with local counsel, and facilitating the closing process.
- Advised on the joint-venture refinancing of an office development in London, including negotiating security documents and managing the CP process with local counsel and multiple stakeholders.
- Advised on the refinancing of a newly acquired UK logistics asset portfolio, including negotiating security and managing the CP process. Subsequently led a restructuring of the portfolio, supervising local counsel, and liaising regularly with the client.
- Advised on the upsizing and refinancing of five Greek hotels, including managing the CP process with Greek counsel and facilitating the closing process.
- Acted as key legal contact for an investment firm's platforms for ongoing legal queries, continuing loan management, and advice on disposals.
Personal Interests
In his free time, Aidan enjoys playing rugby, boxing, and golf, and he has a passion for motorcycles and follows the MotoGP. Aidan is also qualified as a level-3 personal trainer and enjoys his continued reading in health and fitness.
