Overview

Carrie Beyer is an accomplished trial lawyer who litigates high-stakes intellectual property disputes in courts and arbitration forums nationwide. Drawing on a background in electrical engineering, Carrie brings technical skills and a passion for science to her IP work. She is especially adept in cases at the intersection of technology and commerce.

Intellectual Property Litigation

Carrie has helped clients enforce and defend their intellectual property rights in trials, actions before the International Trade Commission (ITC), contested proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and arbitrations. She has significant experience leading teams in inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), having represented clients in nearly two dozen IPRs, and defending favorable PTAB decisions at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Carrie has helped clients secure numerous favorable results, including jury verdicts, findings of no violation by the ITC, significant arbitration awards and directed defense verdicts.

Technical Experience

An engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand Aerospace before entering the legal profession, Carrie is an asset in cases involving complex technologies. She has represented clients in matters related to smart phones and tablets, blenders, multifocal contact lenses, user interfaces for retail websites, wireless phones and tax calculation software, among other products.

Intellectual Property Counsel

Carrie counsels clients on sophisticated intellectual property issues and assists clients with due diligence in business transactions. She has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in the electrical, mechanical and related arts for clients in the aerospace, consumer electronics, toy and telecommunications industries.
