In an article for Endpoints News, customs and international trade partner Mollie Sitkowski commented on the Trump Administration’s pharmaceutical tariffs, which were scheduled to take effect on July 31, 2026, but are no longer expected to be imposed.
According to Endpoints News, the White House had indicated that the initial round of tariffs would only apply to 17 specific large drugmakers. However, all 17 have since reached “most favored nation” (MFN) and US onshoring agreements with the administration, making them exempt from any levies for the next three years.
Sitkowski explained that, for those 17 large drugmakers, an MFN deal alone was not enough to secure tariff exemptions; they also needed US onshoring deals.
