People Living With HIV Exploited by Counterfeit Drugs

In the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy’s Innovations publication, government and regulatory partner Libby Baney authored an article on the latest ways criminals are able to exploit vulnerable patients and government insurance through the sale of counterfeit versions of HIV medications in the United States.

In the article, Baney provides details of the counterfeit HIV medicine scheme and how criminals exploit gaps in the U.S. drug supply chain’s regulatory structure. She also lists possible solutions to support the current work being done industry allies and law enforcement.
