The Interplay Between the EU’s Collective Redress Directive and GDPR

Privacy, cybersecurity and data strategy partner Peter Blenkinsop and product liability attorneys Teresa Griffin, Patrick Reilly, Kaitlyn Stone and Michael Zogby’s client alert, “The EU’s Collective Redress Directive — An Analysis of the Interplay with EU General Data Protection (GDPR)” was published by Association for Data and Cyber Governance.

The article analyzes the interplay between the EU’s Collective Redress Directive and GDPR. The authors highlight how, ultimately, the interplay will be defined by how each Member State implements the Directive into national law. They also note that however the Member States implement the Directive, it will be possible that companies doing business in the EU may see an increase in consumer litigation, including litigation alleging data protection and privacy-based claims.
