Seeking Justice for Slain Cameroonian Rights Activist: The Work of the Pro Bono Africa Advocacy Project Continues

The Faegre Baker Daniels Pro Bono Africa Advocacy Project was recently mentioned in a MinnPost article highlighting work the group has done defending human rights in Cameroon. Attorneys Julie Shelton and Matt Levy, with the assistance of FaegreBD research librarian Sarah Mulligan, prepared a shadow report to the African Commission on Human and People's Rights on the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people in Cameroon. The Commission's review and firm's report follow the brutal murder this summer of LGBTI human rights activist Eric Ohena Lembembe.  Earlier this year, Kara Lyons had met with Lembembe while in Cameroon with the Africa Advocacy Project.

The Pro Bono Africa Advocacy Project is an ongoing partnership with The Advocates for Human Rights, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights.
