Attorney and Marathon Man: Law Week Colorado Features Charles Bybee's Passion for Running

When FaegreBD partner Charles Bybee is not counseling corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies on business and tax planning issues from his office in Denver, he's likely running.  For six consecutive years, Bybee has finished the Leadville Race Series, one of the most challenging races in the country, featuring steep climbs and descents at elevations that exceed 12,000 feet.

In an interview with Law Week Colorado, Bybee said that being an ultra-marathoner is a lot like practicing law in that they're both mentally taxing. "The difference is that mental exhaustion comes on much quicker while running," Bybee said. Despite the amount of training that Bybee logs preparing for the Leadville Series, he said the thought of the full distance can be a daunting. Bybee said, "It's almost impossible to wrap your head around the total distance."
