Faegre Drinker’s Executive Women’s Forum hosted an event celebrating the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth featuring author and Austen scholar Paula Byrne.
The program included a discussion of Byrne’s new novel, “Six Weeks by the Sea,” which explored the perennial question: Did Jane Austen herself ever experience the "happiest hours of my life" she so memorably described in her letters and novels? Blending Austen's signature wit and her own deep scholarship, Byrne writes about a summer by the sea that could have inspired the author's keen insights into love and the "follies and nonsense, whims and inconsistencies" of the human heart.
