The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal Selects Joshua Colburn as 2021 ‘40 Under 40’ Honoree

Corporate partner Joshua Colburn received the 2021 “40 Under 40” award from The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ), which honors notable business and community leaders in the Twin Cities.

MSPBJ selects 40 honorees under the age of 40 based on their professional accomplishments, demonstrated leadership and community contributions. As a 2021 recipient, Colburn demonstrated a substantial level of career success and service at Faegre Drinker and within the local community.

In his practice at Faegre Drinker, Colburn applies a collaborative approach to representing business entities and market participants of all sizes, primarily in matters of corporate governance, capital-raising transactions, executive compensation and securities compliance. He also has experience in a variety of other transactional matters, including joint ventures, international expansions and restructurings, and mergers and acquisitions.

For the past 12 years, Colburn has served as an adjunct associate professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, his alma mater, and he has also held several leadership roles on various boards and committees. He is heavily involved in the firm’s recruiting and training efforts, as well as community events and joint service projects.

In an exclusive profile, Colburn discussed how he’s motivated by working with great colleagues and clients to solve interesting issues in “an environment filled with mutual trust and respect.” He further detailed his greatest professional accomplishment, which has been “the recognition of my colleagues that comes with becoming a partner” at Faegre Drinker.

When asked about a bright spot during the past year, Colburn said, “Hands down, the birth of our (fraternal) twin sons,” named Felix and Maxwell. He and his wife, Heidi, also have a two-year-old son named Charles.

In conclusion, Colburn noted that his key takeaway from the year is how “the value of adaptability cannot be underestimated.”
