James Sawyer Quoted in the Chicago Tribune on the Possible Import Tax on Mexico

Chicago partner James Sawyer was quoted in a Chicago Tribune article titled “On Corona and avocados: Trump’s 20 percent border tax concerns Chicago businesses.” This article discusses the possible import tax the White House proposed to fund President Trump’s wall along the Mexican border and the opposition this import tax will likely face in Congress.

James noted that a 20 percent tariff on Mexico alone would violate Normal Trade Relations commitments in the World Trade Organization unless the Trump Administration is alleging that Mexico pursued unfair trade practices.
