Murray Clark Named Leader of Faegre Baker Daniels' Indianapolis Offices

Faegre Baker Daniels LLP has named J. Murray Clark, former Indiana state senator and Indiana Republican Party chairman, as the firm's Indianapolis office leader.

A partner on the firm's government, real estate and construction teams, Clark advocates for clients before state and local governments and practices administrative law, handling a variety of regulatory and financing issues. He also represents the firm's clients in real estate, zoning and land use matters.

As office leader, Clark will guide the firm's community initiatives and serve as a representative of the firm in the Indianapolis community. In this role, Clark succeeds former partner Jacqueline A. Simmons, who was named vice president and general counsel of Indiana University, effective July 1, 2012.

Throughout his career, Clark has been a leader in Indiana politics. Before joining Faegre Baker Daniels in 2005, Clark served as an Indiana state senator for 11 years and as campaign chairman for Gov. Mitchell E. Daniels Jr. in his successful 2004 gubernatorial bid. From 2006-10, he was chairman of the Indiana Republican Party and a member of the Republican National Committee. In 2000, Clark was the Republican Party's candidate for lieutenant governor of Indiana. He has been a delegate to several Republican National Conventions and was a precinct committeeman in Marion County for 25 years.

Clark has extensive relationships and involvement in the Indianapolis business and civic communities. In March 2012, Indianapolis Mayor Gregory A. Ballard appointed Clark chair of the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee (GIPC), a bipartisan alliance of public and private sector leaders that addresses issues of concern and areas of opportunity affecting the progress of the city. Clark was the 2004 recipient of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce's Small Business Champion Award and the National Federation of Independent Business' 2001 Guardian of Small Business Award. He has also served in various leadership capacities with the Indianapolis Bar Association, the Indianapolis Foundation, the Central Indiana Community Foundation, the Indiana Bar Foundation, his alma mater Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School and other organizations.
