Mike Abbott Named to Des Moines Forty Under 40

Michael B. Abbott of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP was named to the Des Moines Forty Under 40 Class of 2012 by the Business Record.

Abbott was selected for this honor from among a large group of nominees. The honorees are local business leaders under the age of 40 who have "demonstrated impressive career achievements and unparalleled community involvement," according to the Business Record's announcement.

An attorney specializing in corporate transactions and finance and restructuring, Abbott turned down law firm offers in much larger cities, including Minneapolis and Chicago, choosing instead to practice in Des Moines, where he and his wife hoped to raise their family. His career soared in Des Moines, with his first law firm voting him in as partner after only four years. He joined Faegre Baker Daniels in 2011.

During the financial crisis, Abbott's professional knowledge and creativity were put to the test as he helped companies survive by working through problem loans and finances with lenders.

A devoted member of the community, Abbott is involved with several legal and non-legal organizations, including the United Way of Central Iowa, where he serves as a member of the income cabinet and works on fundraising activities, as well as the Greater Des Moines YMCA Camp, where he serves on the board of directors.

The Forty Under 40 Class of 2012 will be honored by the Business Record at an event on March 27, 2012, held at the Sheraton West Des Moines.
