Client Secures Favorable Trade Secrets Settlement

United States - Indiana

Our firm recently secured a favorable settlement for a client whose former employee, after going to work for a competitor, hacked into the client’s computer systems and accessed its trade secrets. The former employee was immediately terminated from his new position with the competitor. Furthermore, the defendant is permanently enjoined from using any of our client’s confidential and trade secret information and is required to adhere to his contractual obligations with his former employer.

Claims against the former employee included violations of the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA), misappropriation of trade secrets under the Indiana Uniform Trade Secrets Act (IUTSA) and Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), violation of the Computer Trespass Indiana Code and breach of contract.
