Clinical Network Advances Innovation Research Model for Care Coordination

A diverse group of clinical organizations across the country developed and advanced an innovation research model to more quickly and efficiently implement and evaluate care coordination strategies for Medicare beneficiaries so those found to be effective can be implemented widely. Our firm assisted the clinical network.

The group aimed to replace an outdated, ineffective and costly system of Medicare demostrations and pilots by creating a dynamic standing network of experts qualified to more rapidly implement, test and evaluate various care models. Our firm helped conceptualize and refine the proposal and worked to advance it over several years. The network concept played a key role in the shape and structure of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Additionally, interventions developed by the group are continuing to achieve success in terms of improved health outcomes and lower costs of Medicare beneficiaries.
