John S. Yi

John also partners with clients on strategic antitrust and regulatory matters. He helps companies assess the competitive implications of proposed deals; guides them through the Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) filing process, and state and federal regulatory clearance for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures; and provides practical compliance counseling to reduce risk before issues arise. When government scrutiny does come — whether from the FTC, DOJ, or state attorneys general — he defends clients through investigations and litigation.

John has deep experience in the health care sector, where he regularly represents health systems, providers, health technology companies, health insurers, and pharmaceutical clients.

Health Care Antitrust

John advises clients — such as health systems and hospitals — on proposed transactions with potential antitrust implications, including:

• Assessing potential competitive effects of proposed transactions
• Information exchange during negotiations and transition planning for mergers, acquisitions, or other significant transactions
• Pre-merger notification under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act
• Responding to civil investigative demands (CIDs) and government subpoenas
• M&A investigations and litigation

Class Actions

John also defends a number of class action cases with a wide variety of claims, including issues arising under federal and state antitrust laws.

Prior Experience

While in law school, John was a judicial intern for the US District Court for the District of New Jersey, Camden. Prior to entering law school, John worked as a history teacher for Henrico County Public Schools in Virginia.
