Overview

Zoey Twyford advises employers on a wide range of labor and employment matters, from defending clients in employment litigation to providing proactive practical guidance to help clients comply with evolving federal, state, and local regulations impacting their workforces. She has experience counseling clients on government contractor and Title VI compliance, employment policy development, pay equity issues, and workplace investigations.

Government Contractor DEI & Affirmative Action Compliance

As the lead associate on the firm’s government contracting and Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) team, Zoey advises federal, state, and local government contractors on contractor compliance, affirmative action obligations, and equal employment opportunity (EEO) requirements. She also counsels both private and government contractor employers on DEI and EEO-related regulations.

Throughout all stages of the government contractor compliance process, Zoey assists clients with navigating audits and compliance evaluations conducted by agencies including the OFCCP, Department of Labor (DOL), and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC); designing affirmative action plans and other programs; drafting workforce policies; and with providing guidance on best practices for compliant employment processes including recruiting, applicant tracking, the use of AI in employment decision-making, and other affirmative action and DEI issues.

Zoey stays up to date on the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, including executive orders and agency guidance, to ensure clients remain compliant and mitigate risk in this complex area.

Pro Bono & Community Service

Zoey is committed to pro bono service and community engagement. Her pro bono experience includes representing clients in immigration matters, assisting nonprofit organizations with employment and independent contractor questions, and supporting clients seeking eviction expungements.

Zoey is also actively engaged in a variety of efforts both within the firm and in the greater Twin Cities legal community. She has served as a leader of the firm’s Diversity Collective in the Minneapolis office since 2023 and is the firm’s representative on the Twin Cities Diversity in Practice’s (TCDIP) Emerging Leaders Group.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Zoey enjoys spending time with her friends and family, taking care of her darling 130-pound dog and two mischievous cats, practicing yoga, watching reality television, and exploring creative hobbies through St. Paul Parks and Recreation art classes.
