Overview
Jill Gonterman counsels clients on regulatory compliance and legal issues relating to health and welfare, retirement, and ERISA matters.
Prior Experience
Prior to joining the firm, Jill gained experience across legal, judicial, and public interest settings. As a summer associate with Faegre Drinker, she conducted legal research, prepared court filings, drafted memoranda, and assisted with discovery review. She also served as a certified legal intern with Indiana Legal Services, where she researched legal issues, drafted client correspondence, prepared documents for family law and civil matters, and assisted with Monroe County Eviction Court proceedings. Earlier, Jill externed for Judge Mary Ellen Diekhoff of Monroe County Circuit Court 8, gaining insight into court operations and judicial decision-making.
In addition to her legal experience, Jill spent more than a decade as a licensed clinical social worker working in counseling, victim advocacy, and case management roles. She provided therapy and crisis intervention services, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams of health care, law enforcement, and community professionals, and supported individuals and families navigating complex personal and legal challenges. Her background includes leadership in nonprofit organizations, grant-funded programs, and community outreach initiatives, giving her a practical understanding of the human and business issues that often intersect with legal matters.
As a law student, Jill also served as a tutor through the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law's Dean's Tutorial Society, mentoring first-year law students in civil procedure, contracts, and sales.
