Technical Experience

Before embarking on his legal career, Kelly worked as a firmware engineer, gaining hands-on experience in electrical and computer engineering. Prior Experience

Kelly rejoined Faegre Drinker after clerking for Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Cowan Wright of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. During his clerkship, he gained valuable insight into court proceedings and judicial preferences. Kelly broke into law with a clerkship at a boutique intellectual property firm in Minneapolis and an externship with Chief Judge John R. Tunheim of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.

Personal Interests

An avid athlete, Kelly enjoys morning walks with his dog, Lady, around Minneapolis lakes. He now runs primarily for fun and for fitness, drawing on his background as a competitive marathoner, and also makes time for nordic and downhill skiing in the winter. He is also an enthusiastic golfer and practices yoga when his schedule allows. Outside of work, Kelly spends time with his two daughters and has a growing interest in learning about artificial intelligence.
