Overview

Alyssa Eckerley-Case is a reliable guide to clients navigating intellectual property concerns. She partners with companies of all sizes – from budding startups and single inventors to multinational corporations – to evaluate existing and emerging challenges and opportunities and devise high-impact strategies that protect and grow their intellectual property portfolios, both domestic and abroad. She has worked with an eclectic mix of clients, including players in the agricultural chemicals, biotechnology, manufacturing, health care and wholesale trade spaces.

Alyssa brings that same tactical intensity to the table to help clients evaluate the viability of new products through freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses. Having spent a year of her law school career helping startups and home inventors secure IP protection in both the trademark and patent spaces, Alyssa understands all too well the challenges companies face in innovating new technologies. She also understands how a little flexibility in strategy can help overcome those challenges and bring new technologies to market.

Previous Experience

A registered patent agent shortly after entering law school, Alyssa gained valuable experience while pursuing her law degree as an intellectual property intern for a health care equipment manufacturer and, later, working in a similar capacity for a major agricultural chemicals and biotechnology company.

Alyssa also served as a graduate research assistant at Indiana University, supporting research on sundry areas of intellectual property law, including the cross-section between patent law and antitrust law, trademark law, design patent law, and both American Invents Act (AIA) and pre-AIA sections of utility patent law.

Personal Interests

During the summer, Alyssa loves to spend time in the sun, whether lounging on the beach, fishing, boating, grilling out, or spending time with friends and family on the patio. In the colder months, you can find her reading through her book list or cheering on the Indiana Hoosiers. All year round, she is picking out her next travel destination or working toward her personal best in the weight room.
