Tricia A. Beckmann
Principal - Faegre Drinker Consulting
Overview
Tricia brings skill, insights, and a results-driven mindset to her work with clients, who benefit from her experience at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on the fast-paced work of implementing the Affordable Care Act, as well as experience as in-house counsel at a population health company and in government relations at a Medicaid managed-care plan in California. These experiences — and nearly 10 years at Faegre Drinker serving a diverse client base — give depth, breadth, and creativity to Tricia’s client service.
Health Care Policy, Advocacy & Consulting
Tricia is particularly known for her ability to stay abreast of, interpret, and apply the ever-evolving laws, regulations, and case developments affecting Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance to help clients achieve their business goals. She leads Faegre Drinker’s health plans and providers group in the firm’s federal, policy, advocacy, and consulting practice team.
Her clients range from large trade associations, health insurers, health professional associations, and small and large vendors to integrated health systems and managed care entities. Tricia particularly enjoys diving into emerging issues, helping clients assess risk from the regulatory and policy environment at the federal and state levels, and providing subject matter know-how on the rulemaking processes following the passage of new laws.
Tricia helps clients with:
- Preparing for rulemaking and proactively providing policy recommendations to federal agencies both before and during the rulemaking process
- Monitoring and developing strategies to engage with and influence health policy organizations, including drafting the development of model laws
- Identifying, assessing, and correcting noncompliance with federal laws and regulations applicable to federal health care programs and the State-Based Exchanges (SBEs) for health insurance, including nondiscrimination laws
- Positioning client products and services with potential health plan or provider purchasers, including through identifying CMS demonstrations and other pathways for reimbursement, applying the medical loss ratio (MLR) regulations, and navigating federal fraud, waste, and abuse laws and other compliance issues
- Creating positive visibility and thought-leadership strategies, including through the development and execution of novel quantitative and qualitative research projects
