In an article for The Indiana Lawyer titled “Connecting Resources Builds Bridges for Immigrant Families,” associates Molly Madden and Cassidy Segura Clouse highlight pro bono and volunteer opportunities available with the Coalition of Our Immigrant Neighbors (COIN) and Patchwork Global, with a shared goal of supporting immigrant families.
Madden and Clouse encourage attorneys to participate in COIN’s legal clinics and attend their monthly partner meetings, where immigration legal experts can assist community partners in understanding the immigration landscape as they help families with daily needs. The authors add that Patchwork Global needs volunteers for its “Neighbor for Neighbor” program, in which individuals or groups can assist families with navigating the everyday systems within Indiana.
The authors also emphasize that these opportunities can be a valuable resource for attorneys. “Attorneys can access information, resources and cross-border perspectives that strengthen their ability to support their clients comprehensively and better understand the realities their clients face beyond the legal case file.”
