John Przypyszny Discusses Higher-Ed Accreditation Under Trump White House With the Washington Post

Education partner John Przypyszny commented on mounting pressure on universities and college accreditors from President Donald Trump in an article for the Washington Post. 

The article notes that accrediting agencies determine whether colleges meet standards of quality by evaluating every aspect of their finances, operations and student achievement, allowing students to receive federal financial aid. Federal agencies, including the Office of Civil Rights, have taken aim at universities for allegedly violating students’ civil rights, which Przypyszny said was “unusual.” He added that he was concerned with whether schools will be judged on objective standards of quality.

"Education was always political but never ideological,” Przypyszny noted. Now people want to put everything about education, including accreditation, in an ideological box. It's not a healthy dynamic for institutions or accreditors."
