Brittney Yocum Discusses Current, Future M&A Trends With The Indiana Lawyer

Corporate partner Brittney Yocum provided an overview of current M&A trends and predicted future market change in an article for The Indiana Lawyer.

The article notes that impacts from federal tariffs have presented significant shifts and evolving practices for M&A attorneys in 2025. Yocum noted that beyond M&A practices, several other industries reliant on the global supply chain have experienced volatility due to tariffs as well, though she stressed that she had not seen a decrease in overall M&A deal volume since the Trump administration first announced the imposition of tariffs. Instead, Yocum said that many companies and attorneys are taking longer in drafting purchase certain provisions of purchase agreements, with a closer look required in how tariffs could impact buyers or valuations.

Yocum added that deal activity involving service industries is still strong and that she expects the second half of 2025 to be stronger overall. She noted that a clear direction in trade policy could help M&A activity and volume in the future.

“I do think it happens any time there’s a change in administrations, but I think it’s amplified this time around,” Yocum said.
