In an article for Business Insurance, labor and employment partner Lynne Anderson shared what employers need to know regarding two new federal laws that require employers to accommodate pregnant and lactating women, including the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act.
“It sort of leveled the playing field” with respect to pregnancy-related accommodations, Anderson said. She added, “Employers need to take a look at their policies and make sure that they include pregnancy and childbirth-related conditions as a basis under which employees are entitled to request and be provided reasonable accommodations.”
