Roll Call Speaks to Megan Herber About National Mental Health Needs

In an article titled “National 988 Crisis Hotline Readied for Rollout,” Roll Call spoke to Faegre Drinker Consulting Director Megan Herber about the federal government’s three-step process to building better mental health care.

Regarding the Senate Finance Committee’s mental health draft legislation, Herber said the initial hope was for a larger mental health package to be together before August, which is now unlikely.

Herber also spoke on the government’s gun safety law, which included several mental health provisions. “It did not include Medicare intentionally,” she said. “There’s still, I think, some impetus to do something in the Medicare program, and then secondly, it also did not focus on substance use disorder.”
