Indiana Lawyer Highlights Brittney Yocum’s Passions for Showing Horses and Practicing Law

In the article, “Indiana Lawyer Highlights Brittney Yocum’s Passions for Showing Horses and Practicing Law,” Indiana Lawyer talked to Indianapolis corporate partner Brittney Yocum about her passions for taking care of horses and practicing law.

The publication shared that Yocum bought her first horse in 2015. She and her husband have since brought home seven horses and own Long Range Stables, a horse farm in Danville, Indiana, where they board and train horses and offer riding lessons.

Yocum mentioned the challenge of competing in reining competitions with her show horse, Mario. “It’s been challenging because it forced me to get out of my comfort zone. But as a result of that, I’ve been really proud when I’ve been able to do things that I thought I wasn’t able to do before; things that I was afraid of. So it’s been very exciting and then rewarding.”

“Both in law and with showing horses, you need to be constantly learning new things,” Yocum explained. “The law is always changing and evolving. Even though I’ve been practicing for eight and a half years and doing mergers and acquisitions that whole time, there will always be a new issue that comes up in a deal that I haven’t dealt with before.”

Yocum added that firm clients and horses can be very similar in that each client needs a slightly different approach to provide “really good legal work for them,” and she acknowledged that hard work put in every day is the most similar aspect of both worlds.
