Lynne Anderson Shares Insights on New State Mandates for Pay Disclosure

In the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) article “Mandates for Pay Disclosure Change Hiring Conversations,” labor and employment partner and gender and pay equity team leader Lynne Anderson shared insights on new state mandates that disclose pay ranges for open positions.

Pay range data will give job candidates a powerful negotiation tool. “The goal is to force employers to make sure compensation is based on specific job requirements rather than the applicant's negotiating skills or salary history,” said Anderson.

“Post the range you intend to pay,” Anderson recommended, for employers who may be tempted to post open-ended salaries.
