How Washington’s Response to Cyberattacks Impacts the Health Care Sector

Faegre Drinker Consulting advisor Patrick Konrath authored an article for National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, titled “How Washington’s Response to Cyberattacks Impacts the Health Care Sector,” that addresses the increased cybersecurity threat the health care sector has experienced since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Konrath provides background on why the health care sector is an attractive target for cybercriminals, and actions Congress has taken in response to the rapid rise of cyberattacks. The article highlights the Cyber Sense Act, the DHS Industrial Control Systems Capabilities Enhancement Act and the Cyber Incident Notification Act of 2021. Konrath notes that as one of the few issues receiving strong bipartisan support in 2021, cybersecurity legislation is expected to continue to advance when both chambers of Congress return to Washington, D.C. in the fall.
