Libby Baney Contributes to Gerontological Society of America Paper on Medical Use of CBD in Older Adults

Government and regulatory affairs partner Libby Baney contributed to a paper for the Gerontological Society of America titled “Medical Use of Cannabidiol (CBD) in Older Adults: A Focused Discussion on Safety.” The report highlights a cross-disciplinary panel discussion among industry leaders and stakeholders, focusing on gaps in CBD research and product safety and what those gaps could mean throughout the aging process.

As a presenter, Baney spoke on the topic “Communication About Medical Cannabis and CBD to Consumers and the FDA’s Role in CBD Policy.” She outlined how scientific, legal and marketing terms used to describe CBD have led to public confusion about this substance, what is permissible under state and federal laws, and whether CBD products are safe when used for medicinal purposes.
