Shortly after law school, Aaron Van Oort, Faegre Baker Daniels business litigation partner, entered the legal profession under esteemed mentors. In a piece published in Super Lawyers, Van Oort discussed his time clerking first for Richard Posner, who was Chief Judge of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals at the time, and then for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.
Van Oort clerked for Scalia beginning in the fall of 2000, and he recalled his experience as the Supreme Court deliberated on Bush v. Gore.
"I remember looking out the windows of my office at the court and seeing huge crowds of partisans waving signs," Van Oort said. "Sometimes they organized into marches, and we could hear the chants through the walls.”
