Energy Drinks Cause Surge in Product Safety and Liability Issues: Sarah Brew Discusses with Risk & Insurance

Energy drinks have rapidly increased in popularity over the years; however, they've received increased scrutiny over possible health risks, leaving them open to potential product safety and liability litigation.

Faegre Baker Daniels partner and food litigation and regulatory practice lead, Sarah Brew recently spoke with Risk & Insurance about the increase in regulatory scrutiny and litigation involving energy drinks. "All food and beverage products are facing increased regulatory scrutiny and the heightened threat of consumer litigation," said Brew. "But energy drinks are subject to even greater focus at the moment. … In that climate, the risk of recalls and product liability lawsuits is greater."
