Bing Wang Talks to the South China Morning Post About Corruption Investigations in China and the U.S.
It is expected that the United States will impose "blockbuster" fines resulting from settlements under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) on companies bribing foreign officials this year, with an eye to China as a main focus of U.S. investigations. While Chinese authorities have vowed to increase anti-corruption enforcement, Faegre Baker Daniels partner Bing Wang told the South China Morning Post that the U.S. is expected to ramp up their own investigations.
"The intensity of U.S. investigations in China under the FCPA would increase this year. If U.S. authorities are suspicious of the auditors, they will be suspicious of Chinese firms listed in the U.S.," Wang said.
