Bloomberg BNA Covers FaegreBD's Seventh Circuit Win for Koppers

On August 8, 2013, the Seventh Circuit ruled in favor of Koppers Inc. in an employment discrimination case alleging violations of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act of 1866, Bloomberg BNA reported. The appeals court affirmed the district court's ruling that the dismissed lab technician failed to show that chemical manufacturer Koppers discriminated against her. The court also rejected the plaintiff's "cat's paw" theory regarding a male co-worker. Instead, the court agreed with Koppers that the company discharged her because she failed to correct her behavior after five instances of insubordination.

Bloomberg BNA noted that Stacey Smiricky of Faegre Baker Daniels represented Koppers before the appellate court.
