Jesse Linebaugh Shares Thoughts on Securities Law in Law360

In a Q&A interview with Law360, Jesse Linebaugh talked about his expertise in financial services litigation, non-compete litigation and corporate internal investigations. Regarding aspects of his practice that are in need of reform, Linebaugh said that FINRA should relax motion to dismiss rules. "It is too easy for a disgruntled customer to simply make an allegation against a registered representative and have that allegation appear on the registered representative's permanent record," he said. "Such bogus claims allow a disgruntled customer to have a far-reaching effect on the very livelihood of the registered representatives."

Linebaugh also had advice for those who are just beginning their legal careers. Speaking of his own experience starting out as an associate, Linebaugh said, "I cherish the times that I turned off the billable timer and asked my senior colleagues to lunch. It is amazing what you can learn in a one-hour lunch from those who came before you — and the knowledge I gleaned from them often empowered me to provide even higher quality legal work to my clients."
