Moving Forward With Food: Legal Developments to Watch for in 2013

In the Spring 2013 issue of Food & Drink, Sarah Brew, Kiri Somermeyer and Steve Toeniskoetter of Faegre Baker Daniels outlined the top regulatory, legislative and litigation issues food companies should prepare to encounter in the coming year. The team of food regulatory and litigation attorneys pointed to proposed regulations on preventive controls for human food and proposed standards for produce safety, potential legislation requiring labeling for genetically engineered foods in Washington and other states, and class action litigation focused on use of "natural" and similar terms on food labels as the top issues for which food companies should watch.
