Unclaimed Property Audits: When is Property Truly Abandoned?

The Compliance and Ethics Forum for Life Insurers (CEFLI) recently held a symposium in Baltimore to discuss topics of interest to compliance professionals. I had the pleasure of moderating a discussion regarding unclaimed property practices and the recent regulatory activity in this area.  This was, perhaps, the first time that insurers and regulators have shared a public stage for discussion — as opposed to headline-driven testimony under oath — of unclaimed property issues.
