Food Safety Modernization Act Reaches Farm and Feed

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) was signed into law just this past January, representing the first major overhaul of food-safety legislation in 70 years and providing the Food and Drug Administration with a number of new tools as it works to improve the safety of food consumed in the United States.  In the last six months, there has been a flurry of articles, blog postings and other media mentions discussing the impact of FSMA on the food industry.  What is often overlooked though is the fact that FSMA has a significant impact on not just the human-food industry but the feed and grain sectors as well.
