During 2008, the UK Border Agency implemented a radically different immigration system for employers bringing foreign employees to work in the United Kingdom. Employers now need to be licensed as "sponsors" by the Border Agency in order to bring employees from outside the European Economic Area to the United Kingdom to work. In this publication we look at what it means for an employer to become a sponsor.
