The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released a new workplace notice that must be posted by employers who are covered by federal anti-discrimination laws. The new notice reflects changes made by recent legislation, including the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act, which becomes effective on November 21, 2009, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act, which became effective on January 1, 2009.
Employers may post either the "EEO is the Law" poster supplement, which must be posted alongside the EEOC's September 2002 "EEO is the Law" poster or the OFCCP's August 2008 "EEO is the Law" poster, or the revised November 2009 "EEO is the Law" poster. Employers may also order Arabic, Chinese and Spanish posters on this Web page.
Employers who have questions about the EEOC poster requirement or any of the newly enacted discrimination legislation should contact legal counsel.
