Medicare Updates Its Dialysis Facility Requirements: 2008 Final ESRD Conditions for Coverage

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid service on April 15, 2008, released the long-delayed final rule for the end-stage renal disease (ESRD) conditions for coverage. The final rule completely revises and updates the conditions, which were last revised in 1976.

CMS emphasizes that the new conditions reflect a shift from a process-oriented to a patient-centered approach and establish three central requirements—patient safety, patient care and administration. Read more…
