Increase in Compensation Limits for 2008

The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2007 has recently been published. The main increases in compensation limits are as follows and will apply from 1 February 2008:

• a week's pay for the purposes of the unfair dismissal basic award and statutory redundancy payments - £330 (currently £310)
• maximum compensatory award for the purposes of unfair dismissal - £63,000 (currently £60,600)

In cases involving dismissal, the new figures will apply where the effective date of termination is on or after 1 February 2008.
