Partners Pete Baldwin and Mike Zogby participated in the Cyber Issues CLE panel for the New Jersey State Bar Association’s In-House Counsel Special Committee on April 25, 2022. Moderated by Patricia Barbieri, SVP, GC and secretary at Daiichi Sankyo, Inc., the panel also included Indu Bhargava from Daiichi Sankyo., Inc., Bridget Quinn Choi from Booz Allen Hamilton and Chris Ballod from Kroll. 

Cyber incidents and data breaches continue to proliferate globally, requiring a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity preparation and a response plan. The panel addressed integrating in-house counsel, outside counsel and vendors to anticipate disruptions and manage cyber risks. Pete, Mike and the panel discussed preparing an organization for cybersecurity incidents and data breaches, the role of in-house counsel in assessing and managing cyber risks, the design of effective cyber-incident response plans, organizational training, mitigation strategies, administrative protocols, regulatory systems and reporting obligations, working with law enforcement, supervising vendors and employees, ethical rules as attorneys, adherence to privacy laws, preservation and discovery issues, and crafting protective order and electronically stored information protocols.
