Amendments to the CCPA

Overview

The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) is one of the most significant data privacy laws in the United States, requiring considerable effort to meet its operative date of January 1, 2020, and its likely date for enforcement, July 1, 2020.

The deadline for amending the CCPA this year is September 13 and as a result, a series of amendments are currently being considered by the California legislature. Peter Blenkinsop, Jeremiah Posedel and Reed Abrahamson offered their analysis and insight on the new amendments.

This was the sixth webinar in a series on the CCPA presented by Drinker Biddle’s Information Privacy, Security and Governance team. The CCPA series provides practical, detailed advice on preparing for the CCPA and insights regarding regulatory and other developments that may affect CCPA compliance efforts.
