California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018

Overview

The new California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) will be one of the most significant data privacy laws in the United States, requiring significant effort to meet the CCPA’s operative date of January 1, 2020, as well as its likely July 1, 2020, date for enforcement.

A team of CCPA professionals from Drinker Biddle’s Information Privacy, Security and Governance team—including Peter Blenkinsop, Jeremiah Posedel and Reed Abrahamson—held a webinar providing practical, detailed advice on preparations, as well as developments related to your CCPA compliance preparations.

The webinar included an overview of the CCPA and offered a high-level plan for preparing for the CCPA. We also highlighted guidance that has been issued by California regulators to date, as well as guidance that is expected within the next year.

In case you missed our webinar, please read our blog post discussing the series and the CCPA and our presentation materials from the webinar.
