Joan Akalaonu Awarded ‘Outstanding Minority Partner at a Majority Firm’ by National Bar Association Women Lawyers Division

Business litigation partner Joan Akalaonu was named an “Outstanding Minority Partner at a Majority Firm” by the National Bar Association’s Women Lawyers Division. The award recognizes the professional achievements, community service, and leadership of minority women partners working in majority-owned law firms.

Akalaonu has previously served as president of the Black Women’s Lawyers Association of Greater Chicago, and a board member for the Young Professionals group of the Chicago Bar Foundation. She also serves as a board member for the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, and the Mitchell Education Foundation.
