Faegre Drinker Welcomes Trust & Estate Planning Partner Alex Edmondson in Chicago

Faegre Drinker announced today that Alex Edmondson has joined the firm’s private client group in the Chicago office. He joins from a national law firm where he was a partner in that firm’s wealth preservation, tax, and succession planning group.

Edmondson advises individuals, families, fiduciaries, and family offices in Illinois and California on a broad range of estate planning, trust and estate administration, and related tax matters. His practice focuses on federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning and the practical family and fiduciary issues that often accompany wealth transitions. He guides clients through complex planning decisions with confidence, helping them navigate family dynamics and important life transitions while creating financial legacies that reflect their values, family priorities, and hopes for the future.

“Alex brings a sophisticated trusts and estates practice that combines deep tax knowledge with practical, client-centered counsel," said Lisa Presser, leader of the firm's private client group. "His experience advising a range of clients from individuals to family offices on complex estate planning, wealth transfer strategies and trust and estate administration will further strengthen our ability to help clients preserve, manage and transfer wealth across generations.”

Edmondson serves as a trusted advisor to family offices, providing practical counsel on ongoing administration, fiduciary matters, investment entity structuring, tax compliance coordination, and intergenerational wealth transfer planning. He also represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities in income tax collection and compliance matters, and advises on county-specific tax matters, including California real estate tax issues and business tax matters.

“We’re excited to welcome Alex to the Chicago office. He is a highly regarded adviser whose collaborative approach and commitment to client service make him an excellent addition to our team,” said Mike Gustafson, the Chicago office leader.

Edmondson earned his bachelor’s degree, with distinction, from the University of California, Berkeley and his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
