Cheryl Orr Named One of California's Top Women Lawyers by the Daily Journal

Labor and employment partner and San Francisco office leader Cheryl Orr was named by the Daily Journal as one of the “Top Women Lawyers” for 2026. The Daily Journal annually recognizes women attorneys who demonstrate excellent legal and leadership skills in California. This is the twelfth time that Orr has been included on this list of leading attorneys.

In her feature profile, the Daily Journal highlights Orr’s career defending employers in wage and hour class, collective, and PAGA cases in California and beyond. The volume of these types of suits in California has grown substantially, and Orr said plaintiff’s counsel has grown increasingly confident in pursuing large settlements. Orr told the Daily Journal that her response to this is preparation. “Thorough preparation, diligence, and an understanding of the players can help meet this challenge,” she explained.

The feature highlights a formative moment relatively early on in Orr’s career when she investigated allegations that a major newspaper had horse-traded favorable coverage in exchange for favorable testimony in an antitrust trial. “This type of in-depth fact gathering further spurred my interest in the types of investigations which often go into high-profile employment cases,” she said.
