Faegre Drinker Advises Aquapak in Strategic Investment from ADM Capital’s Cibus Enterprise Fund
LONDON — January 29, 2021 — A Faegre Drinker team led by Gary Laitner, a partner in the firm’s London corporate practice, represented British headquartered polymer production company Aquapak Polymers Limited (Aquapak) in its investment from London-based private equity fund ADM Capital Europe LLP’s Cibus Enterprise Fund (Cibus).
Aquapak develops and manufactures marine-safe and non-toxic hydrophilic polymer resin pellets, which enable users to maintain the primary function of their products while designing in end-of-life such as recyclability, repulpability, biodegradability and anaerobic digestion. Its novel biodegradable, non-toxic and water-soluble polymer called Hydropol is three times stronger than alternatives and can be easily processed into films, coating, laminates and injection moulds. This allows it to be used on its own, or in combination with other materials (especially paper) to provide innovative and functional packaging solutions in some global applications where packaging is not currently recyclable. The investment from Cibus will enable Aquapak to accelerate the development of Hydropol and expand its application within the global food sector.
The Faegre Drinker team included Laitner, partner Melanie Wadsworth and associate Jonathon Gunn.
“The firm is proud to act for Aquapak and to have represented them on this important investment, which will further advance the company’s innovation and contributions to the sustainability of consumer products,” said Laitner. “We look forward to supporting the rapid-growth of Aquapak as it continues its mission to fight plastic pollution.”
