Alumni News and Moves - Spring 2019

Our alumni have forged diverse career paths and taken on interesting new adventures and personal challenges. They are thought leaders, industry experts, advisers, mentors, advocates, business executives, elected and appointed officials, and trusted professionals.

We are so proud of the contributions our alumni continue to make to the legal and business communities, grateful for the time they spent with the firm, and honored that so many have stayed in touch with the firm and each other.

Here are recent news and moves from our alumni community over the past few months.

  • Dina Gold (DC/Insurance/1999) started a new position as Circuit Court Mediator at the U.S. Courts of the D.C. Circuit in May 2019.
  • Mike Burg (PH/Litigation/2006) is relocating to Seattle to take a role as Senior Counsel, Privacy and Data Security at Zillow Group. He will be responsible for guiding the company’s activities in connection with the collection, sharing, and protection of user information, and leading its efforts to ensure compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act and other pending privacy and security-related legislation.
  • Nancy L. Hendrickson (CH/Litigation/2004), partner at Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP, was named co-chair of the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group. Nancy focuses her practice in the area of securities litigation, having prosecuted and defended complex securities fraud, antitrust and fraudulent conveyance cases; matters involving margin, liquidation and market manipulation issues; and customer complaints alleging churning, unauthorized trading or suitability claims.
  • John Glass (FP/Real Estate/2013) joined Gibbons P.C. as an Associate in May 2019.
  • David Marley (PH/Corporate/2014) joined Hogan Lovells as an associate in May 2019. 
  • Kevin Sheehy (FP/Litigation/1983). After a legal career that started in 1983 with Shanley & Fisher, Kevin will retire as Managing Counsel for BP America in December 2019.
  • Brent Whitlock (CH/Intellectual Property/2009) joined Banner & Witcoff Ltd. as Intellectual Property Attorney in May 2019.
  • On May 3, 2019, Lee Miller (FP/Labor and Employment/1994) was one of the six keynote speakers at the premier Inspire Speakers Series hosted by RVNTV. Lee spoke on “The Secret of Motivating Others to Support You and Your Ideas.” He also recently published an article in Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation’s Urban Journal analyzing New York’s failed negotiations with Amazon to locate a headquarters in Long Island City.
  • Alan Di Sciullo (FP/Litigation/1977) retired from Shearman and Sterling LLP as its Director of Global Real Estate after 12 years with the firm.
  • Holly Sauer (DC/Government and Regulatory Affairs/2004) was promoted to Deputy Bureau Chief at the FCC in April 2019.
  • In August, Keri Bishop Clapp (PH/Litigation/1992) will join the full-time faculty of the Haub School of Business at St. Joseph’s University. Keri will be teaching business law.
  • Michael Clarke (FP/Litigation/1994) joined Convatec as Vice President, Global Chief Compliance Officer in April 2019.
  • Kathleen Scheidt (CH/Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation/2002) joined Ice Miller as a Partner in Chicago in April 2019.
  • Robert Cimo (CH/Health Care/2007) became General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Legal, Real Estate, and M&A at Victra headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina.
  • Mary Wilson (CH/Health Care/1992) was named a Managing Partner at Dentons in April 2019. She is Dentons’ first female U.S. managing partner, filling a position that has been vacant since 2017.
  • Scott Boylan (PH/Litigation/1982) joined StoneTurn Group LLC in April 2019 as Senior Advisor.
  • Neal Baker (CH/Health Care/1994) retired as Chief Privacy Officer from CVS in April 2019 after over 18 years with the company.
  • Tara Flynn (PH/Environment and Energy/1997) joined FTI Consulting, Forensic Litigation and Consulting Services as a Director in the Environmental Solutions Group. In this role, she manages and resolves environmental challenges and financial exposure through strategic consulting, communications and litigation support.
  • Dottie Allison (PH/Investment Management) joined Hamilton Lane as an Attorney in March 2019.
  • Cheoma Smith (FP/Litigation/2004) joined Dematic as Director, Global Employment Law in March 2019.
  • Emily (Albertson) Shapiro (CH/Corporate/2014) joined Intersport as Corporate Counsel in March 2019.
  • Matt McWilliams (PH/Intellectual Property/2005) joined Amneal Pharmaceuticals as Senior Patent Attorney in March 2019.
  • Chris Guiton (PH/Litigation/2002) was promoted to Senior Director, U.S. State Government Affairs at Johnson & Johnson in March 2019.
  • Nicole Graham (PH/Insurance/2007) joined Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP as a Partner in March 2019.
  • Christina English (DC/Intellectual Property/2001) was promoted to Administrative Trademark Judge at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in February 2019.
  • Brian Altman (DC/Government and Regulatory Affairs/2009) joined the American Speech-Language Hearing Association as Director, Federal & Political Affairs in February 2019.
  • Alexius O’Malley (CH/Litigation/2013) joined Michael Best & Friedrich LLP as an associate in February 2019
  • The Illinois Supreme Court announced the appointment of James T. Derico, Jr. (CH/Corporate) as an At-Large Cook County Circuit Court Judge in January 2018. The appointment took effect on January 18, 2019.
  • Rush T. Haines (PH/Real Estate/1968) retired on January 30, 2019, after 50 years at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. Rush sold his house in Pennsylvania and he and his wife bought a home on Anna Maria Island in Florida. They are now proud Florida residents but will spend summers at their house in Ocean City, New Jersey.
  • Rene Quashie (DC/Government and Regulatory Affairs/2008) joined the Consumer Technology Association as Vice President, Policy & Regulatory Affairs, Digital Health in July 2018.
